How do I know what size skate laces to buy?
Your roller skate should fit your feet snugly and be comfortable. When choosing the lace size, 72 inches is considered a standard. However, if you have larger skates or high tops, you will need longer laces. Then you can look into laces that are 96 inches or 106 inches in length.

The general rule of thumb when sizing Bauer ice hockey skates is to go down 1.5 sizes from your shoes. For example, if you wear a size 10 shoe, it is best to start out with an 8.5 size hockey skate. For junior and youth size skates, you will want to go down just one size from your shoe size.
How do NHL players lace their skates?
I (usually) recommend that players lace their skates snugly through the middle part of the foot (the part of the foot that needs the most support), but that above the ankle (the top eyelet of the boot) they should keep them somewhat looser. Why are skate laces waxed?
Skate laces stay tighter longer; water causes the lace to stretch and loosen, and the wax creates a barrier against it. Waxed laces are easier to thread through skate eyelets. They won’t fray the way non-waxed laces do. They’re easier to grasp and tie.
