Do NHL goalies use toe hooks?
Shockingly, one of the best innovations we’ve seen in goalie pads over the past 5 years has been in the toe ties. If you’re not familiar with goalie toe ties, all they are is the toe straps used to attach goalie pads to the goalies skate. We’ve also heard them referred to as toe hooks.
How do toe straps work on goalie pads?
Elastic toe tie The flexibility of elastic allows your pad to rotate better than a solid, lace style toe tie. The elastic stretches to allow further pad rotation than lace, then actively re-centers the pad once the goalie gets back to their feet. There are a few variations in the type of elastic used.
