Without the pads, being slightly fearful and playing it safe, easily 40 minutes at least. In worst case scenarios three months or more, if you don’t have a good teacher. And they make you intimidated by crossovers instead of giving you easy successive tasks to figure them out. Skating backwards FAST is trickier.
Where should your weight be when skating backwards?
When you skate backwards, your weight should be on the back side of your front wheels (closer to your toes). Your weight should never go past between the wheels because then you’ll fall over and this is only for normal striding. Some tricks (like manuals) involve shifting your weight outside of in-between your wheels.
